Konkan, also known as the Konkan Coast, is a rugged section of the western coastline of India. Konkan extends throughout the western coasts of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. Nestled amidst nature in the dense forest, Konkan is unusually a beautiful place for Beach lovers. Considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches of Maharashtra. Small tiny fishing villages, narrow roads, fresh smell of seafood, authentic Malvani or Konkani cuisine, and pristine beaches make Konkan as one of the best places in Maharashtra for Motorcycle Touring.
Day 1 –
Arrival at Mumbai
Upon arrival you will be picked up from Mumbai Airport and check into the hotel, you can relax for the rest of the day at the hotel. In the evening we will gather for a briefing session followed by dinner.
Day 2 –
Mumbai to Murud
Miles – 95
On the first day of Mumbai to Goa Konkan motorcycle tour, we will start our ride early in the morning by 7 am from Mumbai to avoid the city traffic. After riding for an hour or so we will get out the Mumbai city and ride towards Konkan trails via Alibaug. Alibaug is a beach town located further down from Mumbai towards Goa via Coastal Highway or SagariMahamarg.
We will enter the Konkan belt in Alibaug and we will be riding through these Trails for the next 5 days in this Paradise. While riding from Alibaug to Murud we will cross Kashid village, the 30 KM drive is scenic, and small winding roads pass through beautiful small villages. The vast stretches of the beach would probably be the only best thing to see in Kashid. Some beach areas are deserted with no humans in sight. After riding from Kashid we will reach Murud, which is our destination for the day. Murud is known for a notable beach, and its proximity to Janjira off the coast of Rajapuri, a sea fort. Murud-Janjira is the local name for a fort situated at the coastal village of Murud, in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India.
It is notable for being the only fort along India’s western coast that remained undefeated despite Dutch and English East India Company attacks.
Day 3 –
Murud to Guhagar
Miles – 110
After breakfast, we will start our second day of the Mumbai Goa Motorcycle tour through Konkan Trails. After riding from a few km we will board our first ferry ride of the tour. This is special about Konkan trails, we will board the ferry along with our motorcycle from Rajapuri to cross the other side of the valley called Dighi. After reaching Dighi we will start riding towards Harihareshar village, It is surrounded by three hills named Harihareshwar, Harshinachal, and Pushpadri. The river Savitri enters the Arabian Sea from the town of Harihareshwar. Towards the north of the town is the temple of Lord Harihareshwar, said to have been blessed by Lord Shiva.
Hence Harihareshwar is often referred to as Dev-Ghar or “house of God. After that we will again board our 2nd ferry for the ride from Bagmandle to Vesavi, then reach Anjarle beach, we will be exactly riding next to the Arabian Sea from Anjarle. Enroute we will be riding through small fishing villages and beautiful countryside life of the Konkan region.
Late in the afternoon we will cross another ferry in Dabhol and reach Guhagar for the night. Guhagar is known for its virgin beach, coir items, coconuts, betel nuts and mainly Haapus Alphonso mangoes, Guhagar’s coconut is very famous in Konkan.
Day 4 –
Guhagar to Tarkarli
Miles – 30
We will leave a little early from Guhagar since today’s ride is a little long and treacherous, we will be crossing through multiple ferries and a lot of small fishing villages in Ratnagiri district. Also, the roads are bad in some parts.
Tarkali is a small town located in the southern part of Maharastra bordering with Goa State, Tarkarli beach is declared as a Queen beach in Konkan region and one of the most beautiful as well.
Tarkarli is also famous for water sports and scuba diving center. We will reach Tarkarli by evening.
Day 5 –
Tarkarli to Goa
Miles – 75
After having a brilliant ride in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, today we will enter Goa state. Goa is one of the beautiful destinations in India for beach lovers. Goa is very different from other states in India; we can still see the rich Portuguese culture and architecture. Goa is full of beautiful beaches, Churches, Hindu temples, and unlimited fun. There are more than 100 beaches in Goa spreading across the vast coastline of the Arabian Sea.
Day 6 –
Explore Goa
Miles – 175
Today will be the first rest day of the Konkan Motorcycle tour. Either you can choose to relax at the beach or take a spin in the Goan Market and sightseeing.
Day 7 –
Goa to Satara
Miles – 210
After exploring the hidden gems of the Konkan region and Goa, our Mumbai Goa motorcycle tour journey starts riding towards Satara. We start our ride early in the morning towards Amboli Ghat, Amboli Ghat is a mountain pass in the Sahyadri. This ghat is one of the most beautiful ghats in India and the famous hill station of Amboli lies on this ghat, this ghat receives heavy rainfall and is surrounded by thick forest, waterfalls and beautiful natural landscape. After riding for about 210 miles from Goa, we will reach Satara in the evening. Satara is a city located southern Maharashtra and it’s very famous for Sugarcane cultivation. We will stay in Satara for the night.
Day 8 –
Satara to Mumbai
Miles – 170
The last day of Konkan Trails and we ride from Satara to Mumbai for about 170 miles covering one of the best highways in India and some important mountain valleys as well. By early evening we will reach our destination. Will bid goodbye to our Royal Enfield Motorcycles and check in to the hotel. We will again gather for farewell dinner in the evening.
Day 9 – Departure from Mumbai
Today we will bid goodbye to Mumbai and end our Mumbai to Goa Motorcycle tour on Royal Enfield. After Breakfast, we will drop you to the airport with the hope of meeting again soon on the “Roads Less Travelled”, Bon Voyage.
